Дополнительные личные скидки с подоходного налога (personal allowance) предоставляются одиноким людям, имеющим на иждивении ребенка, или женатым мужчинам, имеющим на содержании ребенка определенного возраста и полностью нетрудоспособную жену. Ребенком на иждивении считается либо ребенок, которому на начало нового налогового года не исполнилось 16 лет, либо ребенок старшего возраста, являющийся студентом дневной формы обучения.
